Brillband

Former Scottish broadband provider

History Claim

Brillband was a Scottish internet service provider based in Glasgow that sold full-fibre broadband managed through a smartphone app, mainly to customers in Scotland over CityFibre's network. Founded by Duncan Di Biase, it was acquired by AllPoints Fibre Networks (APFN) in October 2024. In August 2026 its customer base was transferred to Olilo and the brand stopped taking new orders.

History

Brillband Limited was incorporated in May 2020 as Project Fair Limited and took its current name in February 2021. The service launched in Glasgow and Renfrewshire, promoted as an app-controlled provider with a single fixed-price 900 Mbit/s tariff, and later expanded to Edinburgh, Dundee, Aberdeen, Stirling and Inverness. Early funding rounds raised more than £1 million, and a later round was reported to value the company at £5.4 million.

On 31 October 2024 APFN, the wholesale network group owned by Fern Trading, acquired the company for an undisclosed sum and kept it as a standalone brand, with Di Biase remaining chief executive and APFN's group chief executive, Jarlath Finnegan, becoming chairman. In August 2025 Brillband began placing orders through APFN's aquila wholesale platform, and in October 2025 it made Wi-Fi 7 routers standard on its plans. Its accounts showed a loss of about £893,000 for the year to June 2025. On 7 August 2026 APFN, by then moving to a wholesale-only business, sold Brillband's retail customers to Olilo, which said existing contracts and prices would be honoured. Brillband's own support desk stayed open until 31 August 2026, and its website directed customers to Olilo before going offline.
