Apply for an entry

Verified Handles lists the genuine accounts of people and organisations who are at real risk of being impersonated. If that describes you, someone you represent, or someone you think belongs here, you can apply to add them.

Who is eligible

Our eligibility policy is about impersonation risk, not fame. An entry qualifies in any one of three ways:

  • An English Wikipedia article about the subject — undisputed, at least ten days old.
  • A real risk of impersonation — an online presence that fakes could plausibly trade on, assessed case by case.
  • 100 points from verified TikTok or Snapchat accounts (50 each), an associated entry already listed here (100), press coverage (up to 50) and official registrations such as a company or charity number (20 each).

The form adds the points up as you go, so you can see where you stand before you send it.

How it works

  1. Apply. Tell us who the entry is for, the handles to list, and how they meet the policy. Sign in to send it — your draft is kept in your browser while you do.
  2. Review. A member of the team checks the application. If they need something, they will ask on the application page and email you.
  3. Live. Approved entries go up straight away. If the entry is yours, you can then claim it to manage it directly.

Before you start

  • Search the directory first — the entry may already exist, and a correction is quicker than an application.
  • Have the handles ready: the exact usernames or links for each platform you want listed.
  • If the subject has a Wikidata item, note its Q-number. It lets us fill in and keep the entry current automatically.

Questions

There is no fixed timescale; you will hear by email when there is news, and you can follow progress from your applications at any time. To ask about a past entry or a decision, email content-suggestions@verifiedhandles.org. Correcting an existing entry, or claiming one that is yours, needs no application — see Contributing.
