DeckCraft

open-source presentation app by ArtCraft, modelled on Microsoft PowerPoint

History Claim

DeckCraft is a free, open-source presentation program modelled on Microsoft PowerPoint, made by ArtCraft. Written in Rust, it runs natively on macOS, Windows, Linux and FreeBSD and in a browser. Its repository was first named SlideCraft.

Features

DeckCraft builds slide decks with themes, layouts, shapes, pictures, tables, charts, transitions and animations, opens and saves PowerPoint files, and presents them full screen. Every button is also a command that its command-line tool, and AI agents through an MCP server, can run.

History and availability

DeckCraft was first released on 8 October 2026, alongside GridCraft and a day after WordCraft, as one of the Crafting Apps modelled on Microsoft Office programs. Tom's Hardware reported the three as built with Claude and described them as a "targeted protest" against subscription software. It is released under the MIT or Apache-2.0 licence; builds are on its page at getartcraft.com, in the storytold/deckcraft releases on GitHub and through the ArtCraft Launcher.
