revision and exam-advice platform founded by Daniyaal Anawar
GCSEPotential is a free online revision and exam-advice platform for GCSE and A-level students, started on TikTok in May 2021 by Daniyaal Anawar, then a secondary school student in Hertfordshire. It shared study techniques, exam preparation advice and revision guides, with the aim of making academic success attainable for students from any background.

History
Anawar has said he began GCSEPotential after his Year 10 mock exams, when the study methods he had researched worked for him but not for his friends. Its first video went up in May 2021, and its early videos received more than 2 million views. A YouTube channel followed in August 2021, with longer advice videos and, in 2022, livestreamed GCSE "crash courses" covering AQA GCSE Business and OCR GCSE Computer Science. The GCSEPotential website reports 110,000 followers, 2.7 million likes and more than 40 million views across its accounts.
Alongside the videos, GCSEPotential ran The Potential Project, free academic mentoring and school outreach for Year 11 students from lower socio-economic backgrounds, and sold Anki flashcard decks Anawar made for his own exams, free to students on free school meals. In August 2023 Prime Minister Rishi Sunak gave Anawar a Points of Light award, which recognises outstanding volunteers, for GCSEPotential and The Potential Project.
Current status
The GCSEPotential TikTok account and YouTube channel now carry Anawar's own name, @daniyaalanawar, and his newer guides and resources are published on his personal website. The GCSEPotential website remains online.
