Jason Miller

Jason Miller, known online as developit, is a Canadian programmer from Hamilton, Ontario, best known as the creator of Preact, a 3 kB alternative to the React user-interface library. He works on developer experience at Shopify.

Career

Miller first published Preact in 2015 and remains on its core team. He previously worked at the software company Synacor and then at Google, in developer relations for the Chrome web browser, where he focused on making websites load and run faster. He has written many small, widely used JavaScript libraries, including htm, microbundle and mitt, and his 2020 essay "Islands Architecture" helped popularise the idea of pages built as static HTML with small "islands" of interactive code, an approach later adopted by frameworks such as Astro and Fresh from Deno.
