Sahar Tabar
Internet celebrity
Sahar Tabar is the pseudonym of Fatemeh Khishvand, an Iranian Internet personality known for heavily edited images of herself posted to Instagram. Her photos drew international attention from 2017, when the press compared her to a "zombie" Angelina Jolie. Her Instagram account had about 486,000 followers when it was taken down after her arrest in October 2019.
Images
Reports that she had undergone as many as fifty cosmetic surgeries were false rumours, according to the BBC. She said her look relied largely on make-up and photo editing, telling the BBC that she did not currently look like her photoshopped pictures, and named the Corpse Bride character as an inspiration.
Arrest and sentence
She was arrested in October 2019 on charges that included blasphemy, inciting violence, insulting the Islamic dress code and encouraging corruption among young people. Later that month Iranian state television broadcast an interview with her, which Radio Farda described as a confession. In December 2020 she was sentenced to ten years in prison; according to The Guardian, she said she had been cleared of two of the four charges. Global News reported that she was released on bail that month after more than a year in detention.
