CADCraft

open-source CAD and drafting app by ArtCraft, modelled on AutoCAD

History Claim

CADCraft is a free, open-source computer-aided design and drafting program modelled on AutoCAD from Autodesk, made by ArtCraft. Written in Rust, it runs natively on macOS, Windows, Linux and FreeBSD and in a browser through WebAssembly.

Features

CADCraft follows the AutoCAD workflow, with a command line, object snaps, layers, dimensions, hatches and blocks, and it works with DXF drawings.

History and availability

CADCraft was first released on 8 October 2026, after Brandon Thomas said he planned to recreate AutoCAD and SolidWorks. Tom's Hardware reported that a CAD app had been commonly discussed in ArtCraft's Discord among 3D-printing and engineering enthusiasts unhappy with Autodesk. It is released under the MIT or Apache-2.0 licence; builds are on its page at getartcraft.com, in the storytold/cadcraft releases on GitHub and through the ArtCraft Launcher.
