Erdem Gül is a Turkish politician serving as the mayor of the Princes' Islands since 2019. He was the chief of the Ankara bureau of Turkish secularist newspaper Cumhuriyet between 2010 and 2018. He was arrested in November 2015 after his newspaper published footage purportedly showing the National Intelligence Organization of Turkey (MİT) sending weapons to Syrian Islamist fighters.
