America's Funniest Home Videos
American reality television program
America's Funniest Home Videos, also called America's Funniest Videos (AFV), is an American comedic reality video clip television series that premiered on ABC on November 26, 1989. Created by Vin Di Bona and based on a recurring segment on the 1986–1992 Tokyo Broadcasting System variety show Kato-chan Ken-chan Gokigen TV, the program showcases humorous home videos—most commonly featuring unintentional physical comedy, amusing behavior from pets and children, and staged practical jokes—that are submitted by viewers. Since the show’s debut, it has broadcast a total of 842 episodes over 37 non-consecutive seasons, with a two-year break in production of weekly episodes from 1999 to 2001, during which three standalone television specials were produced. It is the longest-running prime time entertainment program, and the second longest-running entertainment program overall in ABC’s history as a television network. The program is a co-production of Vin Di Bona Productions, which was acquired by V10 Entertainment in January 2023, and ABC Entertainment.
