Madeleine Pelling

Madeleine Pelling (born 1990) is a British cultural historian and broadcaster who specialises in eighteenth-century Britain. She holds a PhD in art history from the University of York. Her first book, Writing on the Wall: Graffiti and the Rebellion in Eighteenth-Century Britain (2024), was named a Book of the Year by The Sunday Times, and her second, Hoax, followed in 2026. She co-hosts History Hit's After Dark podcast and presents for television.
